I'm Rebecca Bardess, Founder of Indiepreneur Academy Membership (IAM). I was one of the first 25 bloggers in the world and one of the pioneers of both Internet Marketing and Social Media. I've witnessed this space become increasingly remote and fake. This isn't the vision we had at the start. And it isn't how humans have behaved for centuries.
That's why, as well as bringing personal development and entrepreneurship to indie Creators, Creatives, and Home Business Owners, we also bring support, accountability, and genuine community.
And you don't have to be perfect. We're all about imperfection practice, as were the 'Penny Universities' established in coffee houses, run in many cases by women, in 17th and 18th century England. These were the predecessors of the Salons in France, again often run by women. And I feel the call of my entrepreneurial great-great-and more greats grandmothers, who worked only a short Roman road's journey from here, and who were greater pioneers than I am, to shake things up a bit and bring the lessons of the past and those of the future to meet in a coffee shop in The Now.
The rule observed by most of these coffee houses was: "No man of any station need give his place to a finer man". Let's replace 'man' with 'person' for 2023, but otherwise the rule stands. Whether you are, in the words of a friend of mine, fresh out of Yale or fresh out of jail you're welcome, as long as you bring respect and a will to improve.

- Bear in mind that there's nothing new under the sun. We had a plague here in the 1600s too, a few years after people started building these coffee houses. The benefit we have now is that should social distancing be called for, we can all still go to the coffee shop and chat. Our digital coffee shop, Clockerfly Coffee Shop, is open 24/7.
- But, we have so much political division now. How can there be a place where people can just get along? When coffee house culture was being established in England, we were in a freaking CIVIL WAR! So, plague? Yep. Massive political turmoil? Hell yeah! But we still buy lattes, Americanos and flat whites don't we? So we clearly made it through all that.
- Don't be deceived by current events, trolls, or media hype. Most people are pretty decent most of the time. And most of the people reading this page, who weren't the best in the past are doing their best to do better in the future. Because who reads personal development sites if they don't want to develop personally?
- You might think that you've done things in the past that are shameful, so why would anyone want you at their table in a coffee shop, physical or digital? This isn't Mean Girls. Nobody is perfect. Nobody is ever the fully risen cupcake. If you're trying to do better, you can sit with us.
