Join the Adventure
Ahoy there, adventurers and scallywags! We're thrilled to have you on board as we delve into the tales of Trove.
I'm Rebecca Bardess, or 'Captain Rebecca' as one of our reformed steampunk pirates, Clockerfly Guy, is fond of calling me. I was one of the original Dot Com pioneers, surfing the waves of the early web, and diving deep into code and concepts in the last century. I mastered various waves of the digital space, but none of it was as meaningful as being there right at the start, as one not just surfing waves, but creating tides.
(If you ever want to ask Clockerfly Guy about his adventures on Trove Island, he has a chat tab at the bottom of our homepage.)
Doesn't it feel lately as if the rip currents have increased?
The water looks lovely. You think you're a strong swimmer. Then BAM! It grabs you and pulls you under the water.
You have managed to escape, or you wouldn't be here, but every time it's a shock. Every time it grabs you without warning.
And what is 'it'?
It could be an algorithm. Maybe digital. Maybe social. Maybe. But sometimes the glitch is coming from inside the inner Matrix.
Sometimes, the feeling of dread and darkness is the coming storm.
And what form does the storm take? It can be a tornado of rage when you cannot escape your dark night of the trolls.
It can be the calm in the core of the hurricane when the algorithm has forgotten you, and nobody has your back for the dirty wall of the storm that's barrelling towards you.
Doesn't the online space feel that way at the moment?
Doesn't society?
Does it feel as if there is nowhere left where you can sit and have a lovely natter with some close chums?
The 'third place' offline is no longer a thing, and the online spaces are run by algorithms and ALGOholics.
Where is there to be human?
You've found it!
Clockerfly Nation contains two islands that many know of, and a number of other islands that most people cannot see, as you must believe in miracles to be able to discover them.
The first island is the mainland, on which you will find our coffee shop where you can banter about how you've applied the tales from these messages in bottles to your life, and created a life more miraculous and full of wonder, whimsy and wisdom. The rule here is 'impawfection practice'. Come as you are. Bring your best stuff. Work on the rest.
The second island is Trove Island. This is a place you should at least visit as soon as you have the funds, because the limited world of trolls and haters doesn't exist here. On Trove, you can dig for treasure, choose your own path through the wilderness, and discover new realities that connect you with your highest self.
Trove Island is currently being prepared for the Original Scallywags to sail across and begin their adventure story. When we sail, we will tell you in a message in a bottle.

Rebecca Bardess
