We Need To Start Being Excellent to Each Other Again
Businesses Are Built From Dreams, Lives, and Relationships
There's been a tech-tonic shift in business in recent years. Automation, AI, and algorithms have all made business feel less human. But all of these things are tools. We created them to assist us with our work, so that we could take back the hours of our lives that are limited by living in a biological body.
However, people used to be able to be themselves on social media and be, well, social. This is no longer true. People don't post what they really think. They post what the algorithm will celebrate.
Why? Because social media has gone from the 'follower' model to the 'recommendation' model.
This means that it is now far more difficult to build relationships with potential customers and clients on social media than it used to be. It has become 'pay to play' and even then the competition is so fierce that even when paid content leads to sales, it's less likely to lead to brand loyalty.
Why? Because social media has gone from the 'follower' model to the 'recommendation' model.
Your competitors constantly market to your prospects right next to your ads. And since they have less brand loyalty, they may steal that customer from you. If that company understands relationship marketing better than you, and they have an excellent email sequence that nurtures that customer, you're not getting them back.
Why? Because social media has gone from the 'follower' model to the 'recommendation' model. But email has not. And when someone is reading your email, they're not also being advertised to by your competitor. So email marketing converts 40 times better!
If you're happy to keep losing customers, don't read on. Keep doing what you're already doing.
I'm Rebecca Bardess, by the way. You can find out more about me from Google or Perplexity. The short story is that I've been online since there were only 2,000 computers connected to the internet, and I made my first $1,000 via email marketing in 1996. I was also one of the first 25 bloggers in the world, and was a 'Dot Com Millionaire' by 1999.
But that's the LinkedIn info. Not the human info. The human info is that I survived a severe traumatic brain injury and coma when I was 11, my IQ dropped to kindergarten level, and I was given no speech therapist to learn to speak, read or write again.
The human info is that:
I became an entrepreneur at 11, working in the evenings, at weekends, and through holidays to teach myself what I'd missed.
The human info is that:
I was bullied daily for being stupid (I won't use the terms they used, but you can imagine), and that I kept going.
The human info is that:
After being told by everyone from doctors to teachers to fellow students that I would never amount to anything, I became a bestselling author, magazine columnist for three magazines, made it onto the front covers of two business magazines, pioneered three industries, survived losing everything and living on the equivalent of a dollar a day, and fought my way back, all while working on my IQ, which is now Mensa level. I'm also a Chess Legend.
The human info is that:
While doing all this, I also helped thousands of other Founders, Creators, Influencers, Authors, Therapists, and other independent-minded, passionate, visionary 'indiepreneurs' overcome their own hurdles, inspire their teams, discover their destinies, and build relationships with their customers and clients.
Here's how we can help
- Help you construct your 'human info' so your emails get opened and read.
- Email marketing. A newsletter per week, plus 1 or 2 pitch emails, to highlight offers or sales.
- A blog post per week.
- Style sheet for email and blog, so you stay on brand and build trust.
